Using original music, long lost rock anthems and some very popular standards, "PHANTOM of the OPRAH" doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is. ... A DAMN GOOD TIME!
Mixing elements of Burlesque, Vaudeville, Silent Movies, Broadway Musicals, Rock Operas and Television, "PHANTOM of the OPRAH" at once becomes a giddy collage, a glorious "mash up" of theatrical songs and styles that only Ryan Landry and The Gold Dust Orphans could dream up.
"PHANTOM of the OPRAH" stars the mighty Afrodite as "The Phantom" and the internationally known singing sensation, Miss Varla Jean Merman as Christine. Miss Merman has appeared in her sold out solo show around the world including the Sydney Opera House, Australia as well as Carnegie Hall. She has made numerous television appearances including a recurring role on "All My Children" as well as special appearances on "Project Runway" and "Ugly Betty" and will soon be starring in her own solo stand-up special on the LOGO network. She has been called "Hysterically funny!" by The New York Times, and they obviously know what they're talking about.
"PHANTOM of the OPRAH" is not for prudes or purists. It is simply a welcome flight into an alternate reality that is sometimes silly, sometimes serious but always FUN!
